This half-day conference aims to initiate in-depth deliberations with the Luxembourg Presidency of the Council and the European Commission on two key topics:
- the importance of recognising a number of common social values and principles in the European Union as a sound basis for its social policy, and
- the usefulness of considering how these values and principles can help “socialise” the European Semester in general and the Country Specific Recommendations (CSR) in particular.
These topics will be discussed on the basis of key documents prepared by civil society and academic authors, with the aim of giving a strong fresh impetus to social governance in the EU.
Participants include high-level representatives of the Luxembourg Presidency of the Council and the European Commission, as well as members of the EESC and the ESC of Luxembourg.
